KUALA LUMPUR: An AirAsia flight to Kuching skidded off the runway Monday night and landed on the grass verge, leaving four passengers with minor injuries.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha said flight AK5218, an Airbus A320, was carrying 124 passengers and six crew members.
“The plane was landing during a downpour and that is when it skidded,” he said Tuesday.
Kong said the plane had landed on soft soil on the edge of the runway. AirAsia and Kuching International Airport staff are working to remove the plane for checks.
As a result of the incident, services at the airport have been was disrupted, with up to 11 flights to the airport affected.
“I expect services at the airport to resume by noon,” he said after opening the National Maritime Conference in Kuala Lumpur.

Secara peribadi...bile dengar pasal flight terhempas ke..terbabas ke @ something kejadian buruk...takut giler.....rase macam2.....nak2 pulak berita sekarang nih pasal flight yang terbabas tuh adalah flight dr KL ke Kuching...erk..tetibe rs gerun lak..
.....yer la kan....dh mmg terang2 flight yg selalu aku naik...huhhu..nak2 pulak ak nih suker sgt la nek flight waktu malam..baik dr Kuching ke KL @ dr KL ke Kuching...so, x dinafikan la...sedikit sebanyak terbit jugak la rs cuak kat hati aku nih.....Alhamdulillah kejadian smalam sume selamat, x de ape yg berlaku...cuma ada yg cedera ringan.....kata org, kalo dh ajal tuh, x kira dimana....kiter sbagai insan di muka bumi nih hanya menyerah kepada-NYA......so, think positive k....hope lepas nih, x de la bad news pasal mende nih...takut beb nak blik ke Serawak bln 9 nnti.....dh ler ak ngah plan nk ke sana cuti Chinese New Year nih...huhuhu...nih masih berfikir balik.....huhuhu......rs x sedap hati lak..huhuhu..
